Berta Meneses ZEN FUNDAMENTALS

  • 26/04/2024 19:00 - 27/04/2024 20:30
  • Location: Espai Buit
Summary
"In this 90-minute session, Master Berta Meneses will introduce us to ZEN Buddhism, a distinctive practice and philosophy within Buddhism. this particular path is based in ZAZEN meditation and the practice with the KOAN, with a clear aim to experience SATORI or Enlightenment. ZEN in particular emerged from the fusion between Indian Buddhism and the Taoist culture of China, with the legendary monk Bodhidharma revered as its founder. But what exactly is ZEN? What skillful means (Upayas) does ZEN meditation practice employ? ZEN is both a practice and a way of life that invites us to live in radical harmony with our true nature, embracing the naturalness, intimacy and simplicity of the authentic Self. Zen unfolds through the foundational principles of Great Faith, Great Doubt and Firm Determination. The practice demands cultivation of essential attitudes such as: detachment from objects, detachment from people and relationships, and acceptance of change and impermanence. The stages in the Path of Awakening provide us with specific energies that aid us in the awakening of consciousness. Thus, the practice of ZAZEN brings us closer to the experience of the true Self, with intimacy and simplicity, being fully present in the here and now of life as it is, with all its vividness, beauty and truth, with its joys and sorrows. ZEN is a Path of Awakening to the Being that we are, it is a path of WISDOM and COMPASSION."
